ENTRY 11: 09/07/2024 - Cool Summer
The crypt stirs once more…
So, uh, full disclosure: I fell off of webdev! Woo… Got really busy with this thing called “life”, you may not have heard of it. It’s the hot new thing nowadays. Let’s see how long I’ve been away…
…
Oh. The entire season of summer…
Well, I’ve every reason to call that an instance of summer vacation, so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Apologies to my adoring fans for being away so long! Let’s pick things up where we left off and get into some updates!
So, let’s get the somber stuff out of the way first. In the previous blogpost, I commemorated the death of my pet dog, but our last remaining pet cat also passed away in the interim between then and now. Our household is now truly petless for the first time (excepting myself, of course >w>).
Following along from the previous post, the plans we were hoping for fell through re: living arrangements, so she’s moved forward with plan B, which was already in place. Seeing her smile in a space she feels more comfortable in is… Well, frankly I didn’t know I could feel a peace that deep. Ideally, she’ll end up in a bigger and better place soon, but for now, she’s safe, and she’s happier.
Speaking of her, I was more bashful several months ago so I was a little coy before about details. My darling is none other than Olivia, whose wonderful website you can find on the sidebar. Go read it, I command you. I’ve been head-over-heels in love with her since we started talking in earnest roughly 5 months ago, and that bond has only deepened and strengthened since. This is just between you and me (she said, winking at the camera), but I think she might be The One. In fact, I’ve thought that since April. And the craziest part? It’s mutual.
I was raised to be a skeptic of such rhetoric, but the cold hard facts of the matter all point to it.
So, naturally, the last few months have been so filled with magic and wonder that they outweigh the last several literal years in terms of numinosity. It’s off the charts. This, of course, has distracted me considerably from my webmaster duties! Some things are more important than being a webmaster, including, but not limited to, spending time with the love of my life, coming to a better understanding of myself and working together on my personal growth, and following my artistic passions as they draw inspiration from this.
Speaking of, I’ve been doing a lot of art over the summer! I have a project in the works, it’s a bit technical to explain, and it isn’t finished yet, so I’ll keep it under wraps for now, but once I get a good framework in place for hosting text and images on this site you’ll probably start to catch glimpses of it on this site. I got a hot tip just today about setting up image galleries, so stay tuned for that.
Coming back to life socially, luxuriating in true love, and flexing my art skills hasn’t been the only thing taking up my time, though. I’ve been elbow-deep in videogame stuff, too!
I picked up a hot tip over the summer that some enterprising soul went and devised a patch that can be applied to Playstation 2 .iso disc image files, which exploits a vulnerability in the DVD playing function of some models of PS2 that allows the running of arbitrary code. In layman’s terms, if you have a Slim PS2, you can take a PS2 .iso file, patch it with the patcher linked above, burn that patched .iso to a blank DVD, and put it into a PS2, and it’ll run the game without any modifications to your PS2 needed.
Now, I won’t publically advocate for this flavor of piracy for legal reasons, but I will say that King’s Field: The Ancient City is an extremely good dungeon crawler that I had a wonderful time with, and that I look forward to playing such Playstation survival horror gems as Fatal Frame, Kuon, and Silent Hill 4.
Get your blank DVDs here, visit here for a halfway decent guide as to the patching process (take with a grain of salt, some of the info here is faulty or not strictly relevant, seek forums for updated info), and look here for a storage solution for all the save data you’ll be making. Shoutouts to a very smart seal in the transsexual cabal I’m a part of for a lot of this info. Find your .isos where .isos are found.
It’s certainly been busy. In between all of that, I’ve been getting into trading card games with Olivia, something I thought I was too stupid for, but now that my brain has finally wrapped around it, I’m taking to like a fish to water. My heart yearns for the cards…
My main games have been Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic, and I think that’ll be how things stay into the future, but the field is wide open now. My duelist arc begins…
I think the last and most recent thing to come up is none other than Covid infection #2! That’s been miserable, as you’d expect. Crossing my fingers I don’t get any of those long-term ill effects people have been talking about.
Anyhow, that covers everything my brain’s bothered to scrape off the surface, and I’ve got a routine to follow the next steps of in the next little bit. Expect to see more movement on this site, hopefully soon, if I don’t slack off like I have been.
